Soda Creek Trail Reroute
Rerouted a 1/2-mile section of the Soda Creek Trail to pull it up from a fall line section that was being heavily eroded and braided. The trail now meanders through the forest past some large spruce instead of straight down the fall line and makes it more fun and sustainable. This is part of an ongoing 12 mile SCoMBA project in the Swan Mountain Restoration area.

Statewide Colorado Mountain Bike Coalition Summit - September 19-20
SCoMBA hosted this annual statewide summit in Breckenridge bringing together over 40 representatives of Colorado's trail associations along with staff from federal, state, and local managers. The group discussed several topics over the course of the day, including the Colorado Parks & Wildlife’s regional partnerships initiative, trails and wildlife, current funding challenges and opportunities, and e-MTBS. The coalition was able to get in several group rides, taking in many local trails, including the newly rebuilt Broken Wheel trail and the brand new WildHack at the Frisco Peninsula.

Blair Witch - July
SCoMBA volunteers replaced two sharp corners on the Blair Witch trail. The first corner was near the east end of the trail at the bottom of a heavily eroded fall line section. It was replaced with a large radius banked corner in one day. The other corner was toward the west end of the trail in a fairly high speed section. Breaking chatter due to the sharp corner was tearing up the trail. The corner was replaced as a twilight project by an all woman crew from VNTRbirds.

Acqueduct Bridge - June 16-17
SCoMBA volunteers rebuilt this rickety bridge to make it safer and more fun. It was a challenging build given the 20-foot span, the solid rock on the west end, and the lack of a source on 2 x 12's longer than 20 feet in Colorado, but we pulled it off. What once was very narrow and rickety is now a solid, 30-inch-wide bridge level with the trail tread and certainly more in keeping with the green trail rating.
